Design taking shape

The shop was originally planned to be about 66 m², but as the plans developed, it became clear that a slightly larger space would work better. I chose to expand it to 100 m², which feels like the right size to comfortably showcase the work of many artists.

I spent time researching building designs and found myself drawn to a modern-Japanese style. After sharing reference images and discussing the design with the architect, he prepared the initial drawings for the shop.

Purchasing the land

Today I signed the contract to purchase the land at the real estate agent’s office. This felt like the first concrete move toward making the shop a reality. I’m excited to move ahead with preparations for the build.

Laying the groundwork

The project is moving forward smoothly. I’ve met with the architect, surveyor, scrivener, real estate agent, landscaper, and the local town office to handle the early planning and approvals.

The scrivener and surveyor are handling government permissions, which involve many complex procedures. I also spent a month researching and writing a detailed business plan to establish a solid basis for the project and prepare for what’s ahead.

A new beginning

I spent six months searching for the perfect location to open a store for high-quality handmade crafts. With the help of my mother and husband, I found a piece of land near Lake Saiko that felt just right. Surrounded by nature, in a location frequented by tourists, and with a gorgeous view of Mt Fuji, the land immediately felt special. Buying the land was a big decision, but one I’m excited to make.
