Electrical work underway
Two electricians have been installing cabling for all key systems, from lighting and outlets to speakers and the security setup. I’ve been impressed by how quickly and meticulously they’ve been working.

Site clearing
A local landscaping crew cleared the south side of the land, removing branches, tree stumps, and the grass that my husband and I cut back in October. It was a particularly cold morning, with frost still on the ground as the crew began work. Over the coming months, a civil engineering company will carry out additional ground and site work.

Interior scaffolding installed
Scaffolding was installed inside the shop a few days ago, allowing the contractors to work safely at higher levels. The carpenters are continuing their work in preparation for the insulation work planned for later this month.
12 December 2025
Site protection added
The scaffolding is now wrapped in green sheeting, helping protect the site as work continues.

Front entrance and exterior walls
Work began on installing the automatic doors at the shop entrance. With plenty of glass at the front, the design creates an open and welcoming feel. Protective sheeting was also added over the exterior structural walls.

Structural walls and interior carpentry
Installation of the exterior structural walls is now complete, marking another important step in the build.
Inside the shop, carpenters continued their work, revealing exposed beams and a high ceiling that give the space an open feel. Although the building is one storey tall, the highest part of the ceiling rises to the height of two storeys. The framing inside the walls is made from Japanese cypress (hinoki), and the lovely scent of the wood fills the space.
