Who we are
Crafts of Japan is a store in the foothills of Mt Fuji that features art and handmade crafts by exceptional women artists from across Japan.
We started this store out of our love for Japanese art and crafts and our desire to help the artists thrive. We’re excited to share their work with people from around the world.
As a female-owned store, uplifting women is at the heart of what we do.
The artists
We have traveled throughout Japan to see the creative work of over 10,000 female artists in person, at large-scale events and in intimate workshops and galleries tucked away in the countryside.
Guided by our personal encounters with the artists and their work, we have curated a collection of authentic, high-quality handmade creations that embody craftsmanship and originality.
What we carry
Our store offers a wide range of handmade items, including pottery, metalsmithing, woodwork, lacquerware, glass, textiles, dyeing and weaving, leather, paper art, felt, embroidery, calligraphy, paintings, and more.
Working closely with the artists, we present a selection that celebrates both traditional techniques and contemporary innovation.
Each piece reflects the distinct voice and vision of its maker. Visiting our shop is a rare opportunity to see these outstanding and incredibly diverse works up close.
